We escape hours and minutes, because we do not have a time — 2023
Building on a research on the politics of milk , the work offers a glimpse of a possible strategy of refusal of capitalist production and neoliberal conditions of isolation. Depicting a group of three characters cooking cheese together, the intimate fictional scene advances the proposition of reconstructing our homes, our lives, and our production activities as commons. Cheesemaking here becomes a collective practice of resistance, an attempt towards the communalisation of everyday production work as a possible foundation of an anti-capitalist program. Looking at cooking as a quotidian labour of production and at eating as an act of breaking the boundaries between our human body, the more-than-human world and the production systems, the work wants to articulate the urgency of overcoming the separation between political practice and the acts of production of everyday life. Ultimately, it wants to suggest the role that conviviality and work-sharing—as opposed to isolation and private property—must have in the construction of a desirable common futurity; a collective endeavour in which the more-than-human, like cheese and its production, is not just included but becomes an active agent.
